Chelsea to lose players in key positions in the Summer

Thomas Tuchel is aiming to rebuild Chelsea as a number of first team players are leaving. The Chelsea takeover has slowed down their plans and haven’t allowed them to extend player contracts.

The Defence

Antonio Rudiger has told Tuchel that he would be leaving in the Summer. Real Madrid have shown interests in the defender. In any case, Chelsea are without a first choice center back moving on to the next season. Moreover Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicuetta’s contracts are up. Christensen is rumored to a move to Camp Nou in the Summer however Azpilicuetta could stay at Chelsea depending on the contract given to him. If these 3 players are leaving, Chelsea would be without a proper backline with Thiago Silva being the only experienced center back. However, Silva is 37 at the moment and Chelsea shouldn’t depend on the Brazilian.

The Midfield

Jorginho and Ngolo Kante have found themselves in a rut. Both players were key to Chelsea’s Champions League victory last season however they have found themselves out of form this season. Both players are out of contract in the Summer. Chelsea would be hoping to offload atleast one of the two midfielders. PSG are interested in Kante whereas Juventus are interested in Jorginho. The midfield duo have been the reason Chelsea have been able to have success in recent seasons. However, Them being out of form hinders the Chelsea game plan.

The Attack

Romelu Lukaku will be the first name on the sheet as he failed to adapt to the Chelsea play style for the second time in his career. Moreover, He was rumored to have had a poor relationship with manager Thomas Tuchel and his poor form does not help his case. Timo Werner is another player who has failed to impress the boss and could find himself at the exit door.
