Chelsea to focus on revamping their attack post Romelu Lukaku’s loan exit.

About Football Express UK

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has finally achieved his dream move back to Inter Milan. The striker is on the verge of completing his loan move to the Serie A side. Lukaku returned to Chelsea last summer on a five-year contract but is leaving after only 10 months. However, the Blues now want to focus on their rebuilding after Lukaku’s loan deal is almost done. Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants new reinforcements in the attack and has backing from the new owner Todd Boehly. Furthermore, since the takeover is completed, sanctions imposed on Chelsea have been banished. As a result, the club now wants to add new signings as soon as possible.

Todd Boehly himself is reportedly taking care of Chelsea’s business in the transfer market. The new owner has also facilitated Lukaku’s loan back to Inter. However, this move has taken everybody by surprise since Chelsea splashed a whopping £97.5 million on landing the Belgian from Inter last summer. But as he returns on loan to the Serie A side, Chelsea will only receive a £7 million loan fee. Nonetheless, Boehly has decided to move on quickly and help Tuchel rebuild his Chelsea attack.

Tuchel will be backed with new additions to the Chelsea attack

Though Chelsea have arrived late in the transfer market, Tuchel wants to make up for the time lost. The boss has demanded several signings in the attacking department to Todd Boehly. The American owner too is ready to invest heavily in his first-ever summer with the club. According to multiple reports, Tuchel will have a war chest of a mammoth £200 million to spend this summer. The manager is now anticipating swift moves in the transfer market with funds available.

Chelsea have identified Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele as their top targets to bolster the attack. Furthermore, the list also includes a center-forward to replace Romelu Lukaku with Everton’s Richarlison as the preferred candidate. Tuchel has revealed to the club authorities of his likening of Sterling and that he fits his system as well.

Manchester City are ready to part ways with Sterling but wants a fee of around £45-£50 million. According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League champions have even turned down Chelsea’s first bid worth £21.5 million and add-ons. The journalist also claims that Chelsea are ready to improve their bid as they look to add the winger to their attack.

On the other hand, the Blues are yet to make a formal approach for Richarlison. The Brazilian striker has established his name as one of the top goal-poachers after netting 43 goals in 135 Premier League games for Everton. While Sterling and Richarlison’s transfers will demand a massive fee, Dembele could be acquired for free. The Frenchman’s contract with Barcelona is up and is hence available as a free agent. Tuchel has previously worked with Dembele at Borussia Dortmund and shares a good relationship with the winger. Further on, Chelsea are expected to explore more signings in the defense along with strengthening their attack.
