Chelsea to compete with Tottenham for securing Antonio Nusa

There is speculation this week suggesting that Chelsea is showing interest in acquiring Club Brugge attacker Antonio Nusa. However, reports indicate that Tottenham is actively taking steps to outpace their rivals and secure the transfer ahead of Chelsea.

Antonio Nusa, an exciting 18-year-old talent, has recently been linked with Chelsea. Journalist Ben Jacobs, in a Substack report, asserted that members of Chelsea’s board have internally discussed Nusa, viewing him as a future target. The intensity of this transfer saga has notably increased in the last 24 hours.

Initially, HLN reported yesterday that Tottenham is currently in negotiations with Brugge to secure the signing of Nusa in a €30 million (£26 million) deal this month. The proposed plan involves Nusa signing with Tottenham in January. And thus subsequently returning to the Belgian league for finishing the remainder of the season on loan with Brugge.

However, as per journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Spurs are engaging in discussions about securing the 18-year-old forward. He also mentioned that Chelsea and Spurs both anticipate competition from other Premier League rivals in the pursuit of Antonio Nusa.

Can Chelsea benefit from acquiring Antonio Nusa?

Antonio Nusa’s profile aligns perfectly with how Chelsea wants to play. The left-winger from Brugge possesses significant pace and skill, and he is already a senior Norway international. Despite the recent speculation, it appears that Tottenham is leading the charge to secure this deal.

Chelsea fans are becoming accustomed to the club’s strategy of targeting emerging stars for the future. Indeed, the average age of the squad appears to be consistently decreasing with each transfer window.

However, the prevailing sentiment right now is that the Chelsea hierarchy should prioritize securing a proper natural center forward.
