Chelsea Star Andrey Santos going back on loan

Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos will reportedly join Ligue 1 outfit RC Strasbourg on loan in the upcoming season.

The 20-year-old was on loan at RC Strasbourg during the second half of last season as well, and he scored one goal in 11 league appearances for the French club. He will be hoping to continue his development with regular football in Ligue 1. It remains uncertain if he can come back as a improved player.

Additionally, the Brazilian was a long-term investment for Chelsea, and the Blues will look to nurture him is a key player for the club. If he manages to fulfil his tremendous potential with Chelsea in the coming seasons. He could prove to be a fine investment for the Blues. Chelsea have shown a willingness to invest in talented young players in recent seasons, and they will hope to make a success story out of Santos.

The 20-year-old will spend pre-season with Chelsea as they tour the United States. The Premier League outfit will play five games in the states and this will give new Blues boss Enzo Maresca a chance to look at Santos before he goes to France.

Borussia Dortmund were interested in taking Santos on loan for the season, but they ultimately decided that a move to Strasbourg was best.

The Brazilian youngster has commented on his future as the 20-year-old Chelsea star eyes more game time. As the young blood has to prove his efficiency to the whole footballing world. He claimed that his first preference would be to stay at Stamford Bridge but didn’t hide the fact that he wants to play more.

However, he said, “I’m very calm about [the future]. We talk a lot about it here. I want to be playing. My biggest wish is to be at Chelsea, of course. By playing, I can pave my way faster to the highest level and get to the Brazilian national team and show my potential.”

Brazilian football expert Filippo Silva said to Transfermarkt, “He is just a very well-rounded central midfielder”. “By well-rounded, I mean great going forward, offers you goals, progresses the ball forward, and very good with his tackles and interceptions. He is very technical and has a ton of athleticism. More than your average players at both categories despite the young age.”
