Chelsea enters the competition to sign Robert Lewandowski. He is a center-forward for Bayern Munich. Romelu Lukaku is to return to Inter Milan on loan for the 2022–23 season. Thus Chelsea are now in talks with them about him.
Chelsea like Lewandowski
Thomas Tuchel‘s team is expected to search for another forward this summer. Thus, Lewandowski has come out as the main target due to his circumstances at Bayern.
He is a 33-year-old striker and he has said that he wants to leave Bayern this summer. Also, he has more than a year left on his contract at Allianz Arena.
Lewandowski recently told reporters that he doesn’t see himself playing for this club again. He stated that he no longer wants to play with Bayern. He hopes he would be given a transfer.
Chelsea facing competition from Barcelona
Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are still interested in Lewandowski. Barcelona are still considered the favorite to sign the center-forward. However, their financial difficulties may prevent them from doing so this summer. Lewandowski wants to join Barcelona and has already signed a three-year deal worth £175,000 a week with Barcelona.
However, Bayern Munich are sure that Lewandowski will not leave. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic recently stated that the discussion regarding Lewandowski should stop.
Furthermore, he has told a journalist that Lewandowski is under contract until 2023. Moreover, that they are pleased to have him, and that things should calm down now.
In the 2021-22 season, Lewandowski was in excellent form for Bayern. He scored 50 goals and picked up seven assists in 46 games across all competitions.
Moreover, he has scored 344 goals and provided 72 assists in 374 appearances in all competitions for Bayern Munich.
Concluding remarks
If Lukaku leaves, Timo Werner will be the recognized central forward in the Chelsea squad. However,. he has played a lot of football for Chelsea on the wing.
Tuchel employed Kai Havertz as a false 9 several times last season. However, if Lukaku leaves, Chelsea will almost surely look for a replacement.
