Chelsea on the lookout of Jhon Duran before transfer window ends

There is a rumor that Chelsea will be considering a late move to secure Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, a player previously linked with the Blues this month. The 20-year-old has caught the eye under Unai Emery’s management at Villa. Duran is the ideal replacement for Ollie Watkins, who has been excelling as the primary striker for Villa this campaign.

Despite his impactful performances, the Colombian international Jhon Duran has not been immune to transfer speculation. AC Milan, Chelsea, and West Ham are all reportedly showing interest in securing the services of the attacker from Villa Park.

The Telegraph reports that Chelsea may make a late bid to acquire Jhon Duran. Mauricio Pochettino’s side faces challenges in securing a new center-forward, deeming Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney too costly this January. Consequently, Chelsea is turning its attention to the Premier League, with Duran as a potential target.

Described as ‘outstanding’ by Clinton Morrison, the potential signing of the former Chicago Fire star Jhon Duran would be surprising for Chelsea. However, Duran himself might lean towards staying at Villa for the remainder of the season.

Will Jhon Duran be willing to go to Chelsea?

Villa’s strong form in the Premier League and Chelsea’s slim chances of European qualification, unless a miraculous outcome occurs in the League Cup final against Liverpool, present a significant decision for Jhon Duran to make this month.

Chelsea can entice the South American with a substantial financial offer. However, it remains uncertain how seamlessly Jhon Duran will integrate into the team. That is if he decides to make the move to west London.

Considering Chelsea has challenging history with strikers, Jhon Duran might not secure a significant role at the club. That is unlike his current situation at Villa. Staying at Villa Park appears to be the optimal choice for Duran. And Villa fans will be hopeful that the Colombian talent recognizes this in time.
