Chelsea not looking for CR7 this summer

About Football Express UK

Chelsea have claimed to be out of the competition to sign Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo. Since taking charge as the interim sporting director at Chelsea, owner Todd Boehly has actively tried to add to the Blue’s squad. This resulted in a meeting with super-agent Jorge Mendes, which eventually resulted in speculation regarding the future of Cristiano.

The Portuguese superstar is reportedly interested in departing Old Trafford this summer as the 37-year-old wants to play in the UCL next season. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea’s boss is looking for players different than CR7.

Thomas Tuchel, Blue’s boss reportedly took the decision. Blues have already added England winger Raheem Sterling to the first team. Tuchel probably has shifted his attention from looking for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku for the time being.

Tuchel says:

“I would not rule it out but right now it is not the priority. The priority right now is defence, it’s not a secret. From there we need to see what’s possible.”

This move from Chelsea has left CR7 with not many realistic alternatives. The report also claimed that Paris Saint-Germain aren’t too interested in signing for former Real Madrid star. Although a Saudi Arabian team is allegedly prepared to bag Ronaldo with a hefty cheque, such a move does not seem very likely in a World Cup year.

Red Devils boss ten Hag said earlier this week that he wants Ronaldo in his squad for the upcoming PL season. Last season, the superstar scored 24 goals in his 38 matches in all competitions.
