Newcastle are said to be ready to let off winger Allan Saint-Maximin in the ongoing transfer window amidst interest shown by Chelsea. The 25-year-old has been a great entertainer on the left-wing in the Premier League over the years. He has some exquisite dribbling skills.

The last term, he had quite a productive season. He scored five goals and provided five assists in the 35 games that he played. The Magpies brought Saint-Maximin for £16.2million from Nice back in 2019. The Frenchman has in total scored 12 goals and provided 16 assists while featuring in 93 games that he played for across all competitions.

Saint-Maximin has four years left on his contract with the Magpies. Moreover, he was expected to play an important part in the club’s plans under the new ownership. Now, journalist Dean Jones reported that the Magpies no longer consider the winger a key part of their squad. Therefore, they would be ready to part ways with the Frenchman amidst links from Chelsea.

Jones told to GIVEMESPORT,” Saint-Maximin, Newcastle would drive him there, to be honest. I mean, they are looking for a buyer for Saint-Maximin, and if it was Chelsea, their eyes would light up and they would be very keen to get every penny they possibly could out of him.

I know Tottenham [Hotspur] have been linked to Saint-Maximin, too. Newcastle don’t see him as part of their future project.”

Can Chelsea acquire Saint-Maximin this summer?

The Atletic recently reported that Chelsea and Tottenham have reached the base price for acquiring Saint-Maximin. However, Newcastle have decided his transfer fee to be £40m.

This price tag led to these clubs slightly going cold on their interest. Moreover, there seems to have been a stand-off between the player and the club authorities. It is said that he has enraged the authorities by breaking regulations in the training ground.
