Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel hopes that Armando Broja would stay this season

About Football Express UK

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has rejected all the rumors relating to Broja’s exit this season.

Moreover, he expects him to stay at Stamford Bridge.

The Albanian striker has been on the list of many top-flight European teams. His impressive form at Southampton last season where he scored nine goals from 38 games across all competitions, earned him such accolades.

West Ham was recently thought to be leading the race to sign him. A report even claimed that the East London club was close to signing him on loan for a full season with an option to buy next season.

The report even added that West Ham had even forwarded a deal worth £ 30 million for the 20-year-old before the loan offer.

However, Tuchel’s wish was to make him play first-team football this season.

What did Thomas Tuchel say about Armando Broja?

Tuchel told on Sky Sports News, in the USA where Chelsea is currently on a tour:

He said,

I don’t expect [Broja] to leave.”

I’m aware of the offers and aware of the interest. We will make a decision together, the owner and me and the player. When he arrived it was clear he is trying to impress and become a Chelsea player.

After his Southampton loan it’s clear he wants to make the next step. Unfortunately he got injured and there is now a lot of interest in him. Let’s see how that goes. He has a contract here.”

Praising the importance of having players like Broja and Conor Gallagher he added:

We have a lot of options but not the type of Armando. Last season with him and Conor Gallagher we always have to weigh up what’s good for them and the club. Is there a prospect of him getting minutes here.”

He has already played in the Premier League. With Armando we have to look at the situation very carefully and individually and decide do we have the minutes we can offer so he can grow here or give him another loan to give him match minutes.”
