Chelsea Is Keen On Signing Jules Kunde From Sevilla

About Football Express UK

Chelsea is keen on signing French centre back Jules Kunde from Sevilla. The 22-year-old centre back has been on the radar of teams like Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has open talks on a possible transfer now offering around €30/35m and Zouma. Jules Kunde has a release clause of €80 million on his current contract. It is believed Chelsea do not wish to trigger the release clause and instead negotiate a deal instead. The current deal discussed is a swap with Kurt Zouma going to Sevilla and a fee paid by Chelsea. He is currently valued at £54.00m by TransferMarkt with 3 years left on his contract.

It was reported that Tottenham had agreed on a deal with Sevilla to sign Joule Kunde to their club. The deal being a €30 million fee + Davinson Sanchez but Jules Kunde disagreed to join. The player wished to join a club in the UEFA Champions League this season.

Why are Chelsea so eager to sign Jules Kunde?

Last season Jules Kunde played 34 games in La Liga and scored 2 goals and assisted 1. With an average pass accuracy of 90% during the season. The player is versatile and can play both as a centre back and a right back. His average position on the pitch last season was mainly on the defensive right-hand side. Last season he had made no errors that lead to a goal against his team and won 61% of his aerial duels.

Current Chelsea has one ball-playing centre back who is Antonio Rudiger who plays on the left of a 3. Chelsea plays in a 3-centre back-formation and Jules Kunde could play as a right centre back. Due to this it would be tough for teams to predict with of the centre backs shall push forward into the midfield.

Last season Jules Kunde had 0.9 successful dribbles per 90 which are more than any Chelsea Central defender. This stat displaying that when needed he can push into the midfield or dribble the ball to break a press. The centre back trio one must-see next season would be Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva and Jules Kunde. With a low tackle rate of 0.8 per 90, Jules Kunde displays that he doesn’t rush into tackles and prefers to keep the defensive structure intact.

With a massive emphasis on the sales of young centre backs in the league by the Premier League clubs. It does feel that we could be seeing the most competitive title challenge by the top four clubs. With the places for European spots going be trilling until the last week of the season.
