Chelsea in talks to sign £50m rated Manchester City target

About Football Express UK

Chelsea are progressing in talks to sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton for £50m as the deal with Manchester City failed to go through.

The Cityzens were previously interested to make a swoop for the Spaniard this summer to land him at the Etihad. However, the deal for the defender could not go through as the club could not match Brighton’s proposed fee.

The left-back is worth £50m according to Brighton and the club wants nothing short of that amount for the player. Having stood firm on their stance on the player’s move, City have now decided to back off from signing Cucurella.

Chelsea to sign Marc Cucurella

As the Mancunian side have given up on signing the left-back, rivals Chelsea are ready to place a bid this summer. Manager Thomas Tuchel has been an admirer of the defender and is keen to land him at Stamford Bridge.

Cucurella is ready to take the leap to join a bigger club this summer ahead of the new season. Moreover, the Blues are willing to do a player-plus-cash deal with Brighton to secure his services for the forthcoming season.

Also, Chelsea is looking to add the likes of academy graduate Levi Colwill in the deal for Cucurella this summer. The young centre-back is worth somewhere in the region of £20m and Tuchel believes it could bring success in the transfer.

Moreover, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the left-back’s potential move to Chelsea and Colwill added as part of the deal. He said-

Chelsea are pushing to hijack Marc Cucurella deal! Direct talk today with Brighton – Levi Colwill could be part of the negotiation.

It remains to be seen if the former La Masia academy graduate dons the Blues outfit in the new season.
