Nathan Ake to stay with Manchester City ahead of the new season despite agreeing on personal terms with Chelsea for a move.
The Blues gaffer Thomas Tuchel was really pushing a move for the Manchester City defender this summer for the new season. However, the prospect of securing Ake’s services in the defensive cover for the next season seems to have fallen apart.
Earlier, Chelsea reached a verbal agreement with the player with Ake keen to join the Blues ahead of the new season. However, the two Premier League giants could not agree upon a structure to facilitate the move for Ake this summer.
Ake set to stay at Manchester City
Chelsea required players in the defensive cover after the exits of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. Despite this fact, the move for Ake is no longer a subject of discussion as the player will now stay at the Etihad.
Close to making a return to the Bridge this summer, Ake had his mind clear to get regular minutes elsewhere. Moreover, at City, the player was not the first choice for boss Pep Guardiola who turned to other players.
Ake had a conversation with the City boss regarding the club not being able to agree on the deal. Chelsea has dealt with another blow in the defensive area after losing out to Jules Koundé and now to Ake.
The Blues have turned their attention to PSG centre-back Presnel Kimpembe as a potential alternative in the same area. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter to confirm the interest in the PSG defender.
He said-
Nathan Aké stays at the club after talking with Guardiola despite personal terms agreed with Chelsea.
Chelsea, still working on Kimpembé.
The City defender will look to be more useful this season and get regular minutes under Guardiola.
