Chelsea have not come toward Reece James to pen down a new contract. The right-back has received no contract offers from them yet. He is a 22-year-old full-back who has been important to Tuchel and has scored a total of five goals and provided 9 assists. He has appeared in twenty-six League games in 2021-2022. Reece has been in good form over the past few games. He has good attacking and defensive attributes. Yet Chelsea are looking at Paris Sant Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi. They would like to bring him in next season.
Chelsea to keep or let him go
Chelsea is unlikely to let their performing youth product leave. They are keen on keeping him at Chelsea. However, they do not need to panic because he has three years left on his current deal. Two years have been finished and thus three remain. He first signed his deal when Frank Lampard broke him into the first team. James had just returned from loan at Wigan Athletic.
James’s wages in his current situation are said to be seventy thousand pounds a week. However, a non- deliverance of a new deal will see other clubs want to offer him more money.
James joined the academy at the age of six. Moreover, he made 123 appearances for Chelsea’s first team across all competitions. Thus he also earned eleven caps for England.
Also, Manchester City are on high alert for James due to the current situation. The player has made excellent progress and has truly developed greatly.
