Chelsea FC coach, Thomas Tuchel has recently opened up on his lack of attacking options. Thomas Tuchel is worried about his team despite winning against Malmo in the Champions League.
Both centre forwards Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner are struck with injuries. Romelu Lukaku has an ankle injury whereas Timo Werner has a hamstring problem.
Christian Pulisic has an ankle injury and is sidelined. Currently, Chelsea FC only has Kai Havertz and underperforming Hakim Ziyech.
Mason Mount is versatile and can play at LW instead of Timo Werner. This only implies someone else will play in place of Mason Mount in midfield.
Chelsea FC attackers underperforming?
In the last season, Chelsea FC made the signings of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz. Both have good goalscoring records in Bundesliga but not in the premier league. It has taken quite some time for Timo Werner and Kai Havertz to find their goalscoring form. It can arguably be said that Kai Havertz when played as a midfielder has found his form.
He was initially brought in to score goals and be played as a false 9. Timo Werner has been good at everything except goalscoring. He has missed a lot of chances and is underperforming. A new era has begun at Chelsea FC. Timo Werner along with Romelu Lukaku is placed in the heart of their attack. It might be too quick to judge but Romelu Lukaku has gone 7 games without a goal.
With his weakness lying in one vs one and dribbling, he needs help from Timo Werner. Timo Werner can stretch out defences and provide good chances for Romelu Lukaku. Despite his good attributes as a player, a centre forward is expected to score goals. Kai Havertz has improved significantly in the midfield position and has a new role for Chelsea FC. Whether it’s the strikers underperforming or Chelsea’s defensive system, the Blues need to score.
