Chelsea could finally land Jules Koundé with final bid ready to be accepted

About Football Express UK

Chelsea are on the verge of snapping up a deal for Jules Koundé after submitting their final offer to Sevilla in the transfer window.

The Blues have been chasing the Sevilla ace for weeks and could finally get their hands on the player soon. Sevilla are considering the bid placed by the London-based club and helping facilitate Koundé’s move to the Premier League.

The Blues outfit had locked horns with FC Barcelona over the defender but were never the favourites to sign. However, now it appears as though Thomas Tuchel could finally have his man in the heart of the defence next season.

Barcelona reached a verbal agreement with the player, however, they had not made any official bid due to problems with finances. Moreover, new owner Todd Boehly and the manager were keen to land Koundé at Stamford Bridge ahead of the season.

Koundé close to becoming a Chelsea player

It seems like we are entering the final phase in the Koundé transfer saga as it could be completed over the weekend. Chelsea have placed a bid in the region of £55m for the 23-year-old seeking to hijack the deal from Barcelona.

The Catalan giants cannot match the offer made by the Blues, however, there is still no agreement with Chelsea either. Koundé is open to playing for either of the sides and this could be made official in the coming hours/days.

Moreover, what seems obvious as of now is that his move away from Sevilla seems imminent after his official confirmation. Koundé has admired Xavi managed Barcelona and wants to work with him but Barcelona need to up their bid.

Sevilla have made it clear that they will sell the player to Barcelona if the latter makes a better bid. As of now, Chelsea are close to signing the defender who require quality players in the defence.
