Chelsea considers ‘salary-sharing’ for Lukaku’s Inter Milan loan

Chelsea Chilwell ten competitions

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is doing everything possible in his limits to push for a return to Inter Milan. The striker has had frustrating season at Chelsea, filing to deliver for the club. Moreover, it was quite unfortunate that the striker endured a miserable time at the London club for a second time in his career. However, Lukaku wants to correct the things and is hoping to seal a move back to Italy. Further on, Chelsea have also anticipated that the striker needs to move on and are reportedly ready to facilitate his exit.

However, Inter are in no position to complete big-money moves as such of Lukaku. The club are struggling with the FFP regulations and hence cannot sign their former striker on a permanent deal. As a result, Chelsea and Inter Milan are working on a loan deal according to multiple reports. Lukaku has given the green light for a loan deal, which could also include a buy option. Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will now be able to spend money in transfer market since the sanctions imposed on the club have been lifted. The German in now looking forward to buy a new striker, letting Lukaku leave.

Chelsea could share wages with Inter Milan during the loan

Chelsea splashed a stupendous £97 million on Lukaku to sign him from Inter Milan last summer. The Belgian spent two seasons at Inter, scoring a massive 64 goals in 94 appearances. While the same was expected from him at Chelsea, Lukaku failed to match the standards. The striker ended the last season with just 15 goals in 44 games for the Blues. It set fire to rumors of the club wanting to get rid of him this summer.

Chelsea is considering sending Lukaku back to Inter Milan, with the two clubs exploring the option of a ‘salary-sharing’ loan deal, according to CBS Sports Golazo’s Ben Jacobs. The journalist says,

“Chelsea are open to a salary-sharing loan deal with Inter for Lukaku. It’s clear he wants the move. However, lots of work to be done still. Chelsea wants a big loan fee and Lukaku to take a significant wage cut. They won’t proceed on current terms”.

However, Jacobs also claims that Chelsea won’t sell Lukaku just ‘out of sentiment’.

Further on, Chelsea also reportedly wants a £20 million loan fee from Inter Milan for Lukaku. And though the club won’t let the Belgian leave permanently this summer, a better offer in the future would be considered. Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also monitoring Lukaku, but no concrete proposals have been made.

Nonetheless, Tuchel will have Kai Havertz and Timo Werner in the attack if Lukaku leaves for Inter. The German duo has improved massively under Tuchel and the coach is ready to rely on them for goals. Academy striker Armando Broja will also be returning from an impressive loan spell at Southampton. Tuchel will have him in the pre-season to evaluate his development before making a decision. On the other hand, the club had set sights on Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski for a transfer. But apparently, the striker only wants a Barcelona move.
