Chelsea choice to recall Cesare Casadei from his loan tenure at Leicester City was necessary. Since, Enzo Fernandez is playing with an injury in recent weeks.

The 21-year-old Casadei came back from his season-long loan with the Foxes. That is after Chelsea terminated his stay in the Midlands.

Casadei had been a consistent presence under Enzo Maresca, featuring in 25 appearances across all competitions this season. His loan spell was successful, and Chelsea did initially express the desire for him to continue.

Chelsea wants to put faith on Cesare at the moment

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Fernandez has been dealing with a hernia issue in recent weeks, prompting Chelsea to strengthen their midfield options.

The Argentine midfielder was absent from the Christmas Eve match against Wolves. That is due to a hernia problem but made a return just a week later.

The World Cup winner, however, has not completely recovered and is enduring the discomfort as Chelsea faces a shortage of options. Romeo Lavia, who missed the first four months of the season, suffered a thigh injury on his club debut in December.

Casadei joined The Blues in a £12 million deal from Inter Milan two years ago. Now, the potential cost of the transfer could rise to £16 million.

Despite several changes, Chelsea has been suffering a lot this season and struggling to get points. Their hopes of making it to the top four seem dull day by day. They will need to bounce back soon if they want to finish in a respectable spot at this moment.
