Chelsea almost on their way to secure Victor Osimhen

Chelsea may be preparing to offer one of their targets an exceptionally lengthy contract along with a salary increase. CaughtOffside reports that Chelsea have already been drafting a contract for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, which may span seven years.

According to the same source, Osimhen’s salary is sure to increase at Chelsea. Meanwhile, he favors a move there over other clubs as he aims to follow in the footsteps of his idol, Didier Drogba.

This season has been challenging for both Osimhen and Napoli, currently positioned ninth in the Serie A table. However, last season was a success, with the 25-year-old netting an impressive 26 goals in 32 league matches, contributing to Napoli’s title victory.

Chelsea and Osimhen is a done deal

Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over, Chelsea’s strategy has been to offer extended contracts to new signings. Thus, making the reported lengthy contract for Osimhen unsurprising.

However, Chelsea won’t be able to spread Osimhen’s transfer fee over more than five years anymore. This comes after both the Premier League and UEFA closed a certain clause that the club had been utilizing.

Paris Saint-Germain might compete with Chelsea for Osimhen’s signature, especially with Kylian Mbappe expected to depart the French capital. The Athletic reports that PSG has identified Osimhen as a possible renewal for Mbappe.

Despite the likelihood of Chelsea missing out on Champions League qualification next season, they seem to lead the race for Osimhen’s signature. This potential move could prompt current first-choice striker Nicolas Jackson to adjust his position. Thus, possibly moving to a wide role to help out Osimhen.
