Chelsea add Barcelona striker to list of potential targets

About Football Express UK

Chelsea are weighing up a potential move for Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the transfer window this summer.

The Blues have added a new addition to their list of potential targets and among them is Aubameyang from Barcelona. The striker joined the Catalan giants in the January transfer window from Arsenal after losing his spot in the North London club.

It is clear that manager Thomas Tuchel wants to add a player in the front line to get them goals. The gaffer wants to immediately fix the flaws that haunted them last season; goalscoring was one major issue.

Chelsea hold talks with Aubameyang

Earlier, Chelsea loaned out Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan and now Timo Werner is on the cusp of re-joining RB Leipzig. It would only make sense if the manager makes an addition to the front line this transfer window.

Moreover, Aubameyang’s position at Barcelona does not seem too strong with the club due to the new signings. The arrivals of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Ousmane Dembele’s contract extension could see him slip down the pecking order.

However, Aubameyang remains happy with his role at Barcelona and is delighted to have reunited with his former teammates. A potential exit from Camp Nou may not be imminent considering he joined the club just six months ago.

But, at Chelsea, the player would undoubtedly get more minutes under Tuchel especially as the duo has worked together previously. The Stamford Bridge club will further look to hold talks with the striker and convince him of the project.

Barcelona would not mind putting Aubameyang on sale and hold talks with Chelsea but also would not mind keeping him. The Blaugrana outfit could keep him to add depth and not overuse the likes of Lewandowski and Ansu Fati.

However, it will be interesting to see if Tuchel could convince the player to join the Blues this summer.
