Former England international and now football pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that Jack Grealish can make a sensational return to his boyhood club Aston Villa at some phase in his career.
Jack Grealish only joined Premier League leaders Manchester City for an English record fee of £100 million. While Aston Villa smartly used the fee they received and signed Danny Ings, Leon Bailey, and Emiliano Buendia for a similar price tag altogether. But things have not quite gone to plan for all parties involved.
Grealish has found it difficult to find his magic with Manchester City. Jack Grealish has made a total of 39 appearances across all competitions this term. In this time he has recorded a mare six goals and four assists. (stats via Transfermarkt)
While Aston Villa’s three replacements have not quite found their feet at the club so far. Leon Bailey has struggled with injuries and spends most of his time on the sidelines. Buendia has failed to have a similar impact as he did with Norwich in previous seasons. Danny Ings has recorded just seven goals in all competitions this term.
Jack Grealish will face his boyhood club on the last day of the season as Aston Villa travel to the Etihad Stadium. Grealish will be hoping to lift the Premier League title with a win over his former side. While Aston Villa faithful and Liverpool fans will be hoping that Steven Gerrard‘s side can ruin the citizen’s party.
“I do actually believe one day he will come back”: Gabriel Agbonlahor on Jack Grealish
Talking to TalkSport about Jack Grealish and Aston Villa, Gabriel Agbonlahor said that he could make a sensational return to his boyhood club just like Ashley Young. He said:
“I don’t think they’ll mind [Villa fans seeing Grealish on Sunday]. I think that a lot more Villa fans are ok with the idea.”
“At first, a lot of them were hurt – one of their best players [Grealish] has left and obviously you’re disappointed. But from social media now, you see a lot that if Jack Grealish wanted to come back tomorrow, you know, they’d take him with open arms.”
“And in conclusion I do actually believe one day he will come back and play for Aston Villa, similar to what Ashley Young done.”
