Bruno Guimaraes makes admission about his future

About Football Express UK

Bruno Guimaraes has been heavily linked to a move away from Lyon to Arsenal in the January transfer window. The Gunners are considered to be the favourites to sign the midfielder.

Arsenal is currently facing a major crisis in the midfield position. Two of its main midfielders Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are in the AFCON while Maitland-Niles is in his loan spell. As a result, the Gunners are only left with Granit Xhaka as a potential option in the midfield.

Owing to the crisis, Mikel Arteta gave a chance to 19-year-old Charlie Platino in the game against Nottingham Forest. However, his gamble failed miserably as the Gunners had to face a defeat against Nottingham by 1:0.

So, Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta has made it clear that they would be looking to sign a midfielder in the post-match interview.

“We are very, very short at the moment,

Obviously we are going to move and we are going to look for options because we are very short.”

As a result, the Gunners are looking forward to signing the Brazilian midfielder from Lyon. Guimaraes had a very good year winning the gold medal in Tokyo 2020 Olympics for Brazil. He also produced good performances for Lyon, which attracted the eyes of the North London giant.

Bruno Guimaraes started his youth career for Audux and went on to earn senior caps for the club. He went on to sign a four-and-a-half-year deal with Lyon in 2020 for approximately $25m.

Bruno Guimaraes on his transfer

Meanwhile, reported Arsenal transfer target Bruno Guimaraes has had his say on a potential transfer away from Lyon. He seems to be well satisfied in Lyon and may not consider a move to Arsenal in this transfer window.

Speaking to GFFN, Guimaraes said:

“It’s normal to be mentioned like this when you are an Olympic champion, have been called up for the national team and are performing well individually.

But I don’t really like to think about it. I let my agent manage that.

There has been a change in management. We talked about it briefly when [former sporting director] Juninho was at the club. When the time comes, we’ll talk about it again.

The focus now is to move up the rankings and put Lyon in the correct position.

However, Arsenal is still trying to push for the signing of the midfielder. Lyon might ask for a high price for the mid-season signing.

Meanwhile, The Gunners are also monitoring other midfielders in case they fail to sign Bruno Guimaraes.
