About Football Express UK

Player ratings: Manchester United came away victorious against Brentford by 3-1 at the capital in a crucial Premier League encounter on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils started the game poorly and could have conceded more than one goal. But, thanks to an excellent display from David De Gea, Ralf Rangnick’s side went into the interval level.

The story of the second half was completely different and United dominated the game and scored three goals courtesy of the contribution from Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford.

Following this victory, the Old Trafford outfit closed the gap with West Ham United in fourth. The record Premier League champions are currently sitting seventh in the league with 35 points in 21 games, two points behind the Hammers with a game in hand.

Manchester United player ratings against Brentford:

David De Gea – 8/10

Almost single-handedly kept Manchester United in the game in the first half and made seven saves in the game. But, unfortunately, conceded a goal late in the game.

Diogo Dalot – 6.5/10

The Portuguese are starting to showcase his talent and displayed a productive performance against Thomas Frank’s side. He could solidify the right-back spot of his own ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Victor Lindelof – 6.5/10

Dealt brilliantly against a physical striker Ivan Toney and overall a good performance.

Raphael Varane – 7/10

Looked extremely calm in defence and displayed a flawless performance.

Alex Telles – 6.5/10

Did very well during the absence of Luke Shaw and it will be interesting to see if he will start in the next game or not.

Scott McTominay – 7.5/10

The Scotsman is the most improved player under Rangnick and performed extremely well. Made a few strong runs from the deep and also distributed the ball pretty well.

Fred – 6/10

The overall play wasn’t good enough. Lost the control of the ball on too many occasions. But, delivered a great cross on the opener and worked very hard in midfield.

Bruno Fernandes – 7/10

The Portuguese are starting to get back his old form. Assisted two goals and has looked much more threatening in the last few games.

Anthony Elanga – 6.5/10

He endured a difficult first half but scored the opener in the second half and also worked very hard without possession.

Cristiano Ronaldo – 7/10

Didn’t have many chances to score a goal but made a big contribution on the second goal and also worked hard off the ball.

Mason Greenwood – 7/10

Didn’t enjoy his best of games. But, he scored a goal and overall a decent performance.

Substitute:

Harry Maguire – 5.5/10

Came on for the last 20 minutes and looked shaky. The passing wasn’t good enough and also failed to keep the clean sheet.

Marcus Rashford – 7/10

Scored the third goal and this will give huge confidence to the academy graduate.

Nemanja Matic – 6/10

Came on for injured McTominay and did his job well.
