Marquinhos stats at Arsenal

Here are Marquinhos’ numbers since arriving at Arsenal:

Games played: 6, Goals: 1, Assists: 1

20 years old started his Arsenal career with a goal and assist in his debut against FC Zurich. After that, he did not get his best performances. He played five more games. This season he spent half of the season on loan at Nantes. Arsenal recalled him at the start of the winter transfer window.

He is now with the Brazilian team for the pre-Olympic tournament. He will then join Fluminense on loan for a small fee. The South American champions will retain a buy-back clause as part of the agreement.

Failed transfer?

There was much hype when Marquinhos first arrived at Arsenal. Fans compared him with Gabriel Martinelli after a fantastic debut against FC Zurich.

However, he made only two more starts and three substitute appearances for the club. Manager Mikel Arteta was unconvinced over him and loaned him out last year.

His loan spells were not impressive He had 1 goal and 2 assists in two loan spells . He is 20 years old and he is yet to come at his best. But after seeing his performances Arteta hasn’t been impressed In two seasons. Now he is going back to Brazil. Most probably Fluminense will buy him.

Arsenal are likely to lose him on the cheap. Hopefully, they will retain a future sell-on clause, suppose Fluminense go on to sign Marquinhos permanently.
