Boubacar Kamara could join Manchester United in summer

About Football Express UK

Manchester United are in the prime position to land Boubacar Kamara in the summer. The Marseille midfielder will see his contract with the club end this summer.

The latest report comes from Spanish news outlet Marca. Manchester United have been monitoring Kamara and will now try to sign him as a free agent at the end of the season.

Multiple clubs have shown interest in signing Boubacar Kamara this January, including Aston Villa. Marseille is holding out for a fee of €10 million for the midfielder, but it seems Manchester United will be his destination.

GARNERING ATTENTION

Boubacar Kamara has been a key part of Jorge Sampaoli’s Marseille side, who are currently sitting third in the Ligue 1. The 22-year-old Frenchman is an excellent defensive midfielder who can also slot in at the centre-back role.

He has already made 146 appearances for Marseille after breaking into their first team. This season Kamara has made 18 appearances for them in Ligue 1 and have scored 1 goal as well.

While Marseille did try to extend the contract with the player, no new deal was made. For the club, selling Kamara this January is the last chance for them to make money on him. This is a reason why they are holding out for fees close to €10 million.

MANCHESTER UNITED READY TO WAIT FOR KAMARA

Manchester United have been linked with multiple players. However, it looks like they will not be making any business in January. The club requires reinforcement, especially in their midfield.

For the Red Devils, many players are out of contract in the summer. This includes the likes of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard in the midfield. Both of them looks set to move away from Manchester United, leaving space in the middle to bring someone like Kamara.

A major reason for the club to not go in for Kamara in January is also because of the managerial situation. Manchester United are still in search of a permanent manager, with Ralf Rangick currently holding the role on an interim basis.

Hence it is also important for the club to know the inputs from their incoming manager before signing any player. Waiting till summer for Kamara also will save Manchester United money on the transfer fee, which they could use elsewhere.

However, with two more days to go in the transfer window, anything could happen. There are already reports of Marseille rejecting a €5 million bid from Atletico Madrid. If any sides did meet Marseille’s asking price Manchester United could be forced to bring in Kamara earlier.
