According to Italian and Spanish reports, Arsenal teenager Charlie Patino has become a transfer target for Spanish giants Barcelona.
The 19-year-old was sent on loan to Blackpool this season. He has thrived there, and his brilliance has attracted the attention of Xavi’s Barcelona.
Patino has played for England in several age groups. However, he also has a Spanish passport through his father’s nationality. This makes him eligible for playing for Spain. The Spanish FA seemed to have made ‘moves’ to tempt him to switch allegiances earlier.
Barcelona may look to tempt the young midfielder to Catalonia. While his contract ends this summer, Arsenal do have the option to extend it by two years. However, should the Gunners management be distracted, Barcelona are ready to pounce.
Patino turned 19 last month. He is ‘one of the most precious diamonds in the landscape of England’s youth’ according to Italian outlets.
What is Arsenal’s stance on Charlie Patino?
Arsenal must be intent on retaining Patino’s services for the club. The youngster has emerged as one of the brightest prospects to emerge out of Hale End Academy. He is considered one of the Youth Team players closest to joining the first team, closely following the path of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe.
Patino is good on the ball and can play in many different positions in the midfield. During his time at Blackpool, he has repeatedly shown his absurd potential, becoming a fan favorite in the process. It is likely that he will develop into a top-rate video in the future. Arsenal is likely to extend his deal, as well as offer him a better contract in the future.
