Aston Villa hosts Manchester United in the Premier League

Aston Villa will be hoping for the luck to turn to their side as they host Manchester United in the Premier League. Villa was knocked out of the FA Cup by the Red Devils a few days back.

Manchester United have been struggling with their performance in the last few matches. However, they will be hoping to win all three points as they travel to face Aston Villa.

For Aston Villa, the club will hope to push up the Premier League table, especially after signing both Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne in the last two days. As for Manchester United, the club will be looking to return to winning ways in the league after their 1-0 loss at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers.


The home side will be hoping to give debuts to their newest additions Digne and Coutinho. However, it might be still too early for them to start the match. But one player that will not be playing in their team is John McGinn. He is suspended after picking up his 5th yellow card of the league season.

Injuries are also going to be an issue for Aston Villa with Leon Bailey and Marvelous Nakamba ruled out for the match. They also have Bertrand Traore and Mahmoud Ibrahim Hassan out on international duty in AFCON. More fitness news will be available after the press conference of manager Steven Gerrard.

As for Manchester United, the club have multiple injury issues in the team including that of Cristiano Ronaldo. Alongside Ronaldo, Harry Maguire, Diogo Dalot, Jadon Sancho and Phil Jones are all doubts about the match and the press conference by manager Ralf Rangnick will shed more light on it.

However, the club will be without Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay. Both of them miss the match after picking up their 5th yellow card. Eric Bailey is on international duty while Paul Pogba is still recovering from his injury are the other confirmed absentees from the match against Aston Villa.

PREDICTIONS: Aston Villa 1 – 1 Manchester United

Aston Villa did put an excellent performance in the FA cup match but was unfortunate to not get something from it. They will be more aggressive at the home and will know that they can take all three points.

However, the absence of McGinn will be an important issue for them in the middle. He has been very important for Gerrard’s side who will be hoping to bring on his new signing Coutinho as well.

As for Manchester United, there are many questions raised about the team mentality. The absence of Ronaldo did cause a drop in their bite and Rangnick will be hoping to have the Portuguese fit for the match.
