Aston Villa are preparing to launch a bid to sign Otavio from Porto for a fee of £30million in the coming days.
The Porto winger has gained quite a few admirers from the Premier League with his impressive performances with the club. Otavio was linked to Liverpool and Leeds United earlier this summer as both clubs wanted to make a swoop.
However, in the race to sign the winger, Steven Gerrard’s Villa are preparing a £30 million bid in the coming days. According to Portuguese outlet Mais Futebol, the winger could join Villa Park if the club offers £30m plus add-ons.
Villa keen to sign Otavio
The manager, Steven Gerrard is keen to plot a move for the winger from Porto. However, he understands the club will have to rival Leeds and Liverpool amid transfer links.
During his stint with Porto, the winger relished three league titles, appearing in over 200 matches and amassed 86 goals. Otavio has turned out to be one of the players to look out for when brought to a bigger team.
Moreover, with the Lions gaffer reportedly interested in the winger, Otavio could very well be groomed under Gerrard’s wing. The creativity Otavio delivers on the pitch has been admirable and Gerrard has taken notice of this.
It would be difficult to get much game time under Klopp at Anfield but at Villa, it could be different. With Philippe Coutinho, Bertrand Traore, and Leon Bailey as the option out in the wide, Otavio could be a vital addition.
The developing side of Villa under Gerrard’s management could do well with a versatile player such as Otavio. However, it remains to be seen if Villa really needs such a profile after the Coutinho deal.
In any case, the experience coupled with Otavio’s creativity would work well for Aston Villa if the transfer goes through.
