Aston Villa could go all in for PSG striker Mauro Icardi as a ‘perfect’ alternative to Luis Suarez in the transfer window this summer.
The PSG marksman could potentially be on the list of the Midlands upfront in the attack for the next season. Moreover, Villa boss Steven Gerrard was initially intending to bring in the likes of Luis Suarez as his main man.
However, not much development took place in the move for the Atletico Madrid striker, and now Villa look for alternatives. The Midlands could land up Icardi from PSG considering his current position with the Ligue 1 outfit.
Villa to bid for Icardi?
The Argentinian international has not been able to rack up anything sensational with PSG as he did with Inter Milan. The striker has been unable to cement his spot as a regular in the squad and has often played matches with less intensity.
Surely, this must not have gone down well with the player considering his potential who could be a lethal striker. However, Premier League side Aston Villa could help his case by making a swoop for him this summer.
Even Journalist Josh Holland believes the PSG man should switch to the Midlands for the forthcoming season. Speaking in an interview with GIVEMESPORT, he mentioned how the striker could be of use to Gerrard’s Villa.
He said-
“I’m thinking now PSG have signed Ekitike, that could maybe pave the way for Icardi, who’s obviously been linked with a move away.”
Moreover, the signing of Ekitike from Newcastle United could see Icardi slip down the pecking order in the PSG squad. Though, the striker has two years left in his contract with the Ligue 1 outfit which could make transfer difficult.
However, Icardi has been very proficient during his stint with Inter Milan prior to his move to Paris. He amassed 124 goals in 219 appearances for the Milan outfit proving how lethal he could be.
Certainly, these numbers would be impressive and helpful to Aston Villa if a transfer is to happen.
