Arteta always gets lots of praise from City manager Guardiola

Mikel Arteta

Pep Guardiola has been consistently praising Mikel Arteta. To the extent that the former Barcelona manager once endorsed his compatriot as a potential successor at the Etihad Stadium. Meanwhile, the pair collaborated at Manchester City for over three years, securing two Premier League titles and one FA Cup.

As Guardiola’s assistant, the Gunners’ head coach, Mikel Arteta, played a crucial role in constructing one of the Premier League’s greatest-ever teams. With Arteta’s assistance, Guardiola managed to maintain a competitive edge over Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Guardiola talked about Arteta when the latter moved to Arsenal. He said:

“I’m pretty sure he’ll succeed me. He will have success. Sooner or later it’s going to happen (Arteta becoming a manager). He’s a young, young manager.”

“He has experience already, handling big players and big teams. He’s got an incredible work ethic. He has a special talent to analyse what happens and to find solutions. We talk a lot about what he believes and how he feels.”

Arteta needs to make a quick decision if he wants to stay at Arsenal

Even after departing the Etihad Stadium midway through the 2019/20 season, Guardiola continued to speak highly of Arteta. However, when City faced Arsenal a couple of years later, they didn’t hold back. Thus, securing a commanding 5-0 victory over the Gunners.

As of now, Arteta’s contract at Arsenal is set to expire in 2025. With less than 18 months remaining, the head coach faces a growing sense of uncertainty regarding his future in north London. Supporters are likely eager to witness him secure a contract extension before it becomes a pressing concern.
