Arsenal willing to open talks for Philippe Coutinho

Arsenal are preparing to open a discussion with the Spanish giants Barcelona in order to approach for the Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

The gunners have had a disappointing end to their 2020-21 campaign finishing 8th in the Premier League table. It will be for the first time in 26 years that Arsenal won’t be competing in European competitions. According to reports from the French Citation Le10Sport, Arsenal are now keen to get a playmaker and are willing to hold discussions with Barcelona as they look for a new creative player.

Arsenal are already looking forward to rebuild their squad after an awful end in the last season. The Gunners are eager to get some talented players in their squad and start fresh in the next season. With just under 2 months remaining in the beginning of next season, It will be a busy summer for Arsenal in the transfer market this year.

Possibility of Arsenal signing Coutinho in this summers transfer window?

The 29 year old Barcelona playmaker has made just 14 appearances in all competitions during the last campaign. This could be a sign of worry for any club willing to opt for the midfielder. However, the Catalan giants keen to raise funds from the sale of Coutinho. Thus, are willing to accept a decent offer for the Brazilian.

Looking at the current contract of Coutinho with Barcelona, wages might be a problem as well. As no team is willing to take on the 29-year-old’s wages. A knee injury kept Coutinho out for the second half of the season. While he would need to prove his fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The former Liverpool playmaker made just 14 appearances in all competitions during the last season for the Catalans.

Although, Arsenal are keen to give a chance to the Brazilian as they believe there is yet lot to see from Coutinho. It will be interesting to see if Barcelona, who want raise funds from sale of Coutinho could agree on a reasonable fee with Arsenal.
