Arsenal schedule meeting with Leeds United over Raphinha deal this week

About Football Express UK

Arsenal are set to hold talks with Leeds United over winger Raphinha this week to discuss a possible transfer.

Arsenal had previously submitted a bid to the Elland Road club only for it to get rejected. However, the Gunners feel optimistic regarding the transfer of the winger to the Emirates this summer.

With the club’s optimism in the right place, Arsenal have scheduled a meeting with Leeds to discuss the transfer. It is reported that Arteta’s side are the frontrunner when it comes to making a swoop for Raphinha.

Arsenal to hold fresh talks

The Elland Road fans will not be too pleased with the possible exit of their main winger to another club. Especially after Raphinha helped the club escape relegation this season after enduring a rather poor performance on the pitch.

The word is that Arsenal chief Edu and the management are in favor of Raphinha’s transfer to the Emirates. Moreover, the boss dreams of pairing Raphinha with fellow Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City in the next season.

However, with other clubs still in the race to sign the winger, Arsenal faces stiff competition from FC Barcelona. The winger’s agent, Deco met with the club’s president last week with a high possibility that Raphinha’s transfer was discussed.

Moreover, Deco prefers a move to the Spanish league rather than join the Gunners. Despite Arsenal losing out the Champions League spot, the club is still pushing to convince the player the agent.

The coming days will be crucial to understand what unfolds in the transfer saga. The race is still very well on but Arsenal and Barcelona appear to be locking horns for the winger.

It remains to be seen if the club can convince the Leeds winger in the forthcoming meeting to join them.
