Arsenal have reportedly shown interests in Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves. Neves is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League at the moment.

Ruben Neves is a defensive midfielder who scores often. However, Most of these goals tend to be bangers and goal of the month contenders. Neves score mostly from outside the box, In fact, He had more long range goals than touches in the opposition box last year. Arsenal are in need of a proper defensive midfielder who can hold the ball and Neves fits the description.

Granit Xhaka is another player who loves scoring long range screamers. Xhaka scored one against Manchester United in their 3-1 win at the Emirates. Xhaka has scored goals from 28 meters the most in the Premier League in the last 5 years. Pairing his talent with the likes of Neves will only create more wonder goals for Arsenal. Xhaka is the one of the only players in the League who could give Neves a run for his money.

However, Arsenal face stiff competition within the Premier League – Chelsea, Manchester United. The latter have shown interests in the defensive midfielder since 2019.

Why Neves ?

Arsenal are a club who is slowly reinventing themselves. Under the guidance of Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have been able to change from a top 8 club to a top 4 club. However, Arsenal still lack a couple of good players in key positions. One of those positions happen to be the holding position as Arsenal do not possess a reliable defensive midfielder. Neves could prove to be a great signing for Arsenal as he has proven his worth in the last couple years. In fact, Neves is arguably the best defensive midfielder in the League, a close second would be Fabinho. Neves could give a huge boost to Arsenal in the coming years if they are able to sign him. If Arteta is able to execute his vision for Arsenal, Neves could be a fundamental part for the New Arsenal.
