Arsenal has competition for the signature of Portuguese star Ruben Neves and that is from none other than Spanish giants FC Barcelona. The Catalan side has shown their interest in Neves and it could be difficult for Arsenal to land him now. Let us look at how the summer window could shape up for Arsenal.

RUBEN NEVES AND THE SUMMER WINDOW FOR ARSENAL

Arsenal is pushing for Champions League qualification this season.

Their most recent Premier League victory came at the Emirates on Sunday. The Gunners emerged 2-0 winners over Leicester City. The victory leaves the north London outfit in fourth place, one point ahead of Manchester United, who have played three more league fixtures. They are now preparing to host Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Arsenal is looking to strengthen their chances of winning the race for the top four. But regardless of a top-four finish, the Gunners would be looking to strengthen in the midfield and forward area.

LUCAS TORREIRA

Fiorentina is extremely happy with the services of the Uruguayan, who are currently on loan. They are eager to make the switch a permanent one.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there’s a €15 million (£12.6 million) buy option clause included in the loan deal. Arsenal is open to letting him go, it’d mean getting €25 million-€26 million (£21 million – £21.8 million) from the sales of Torreira to Fiorentina and Guendouzi to Olympique Marseille.

FABIAN RUIZ

The Spaniard is a midfield target for the Gunners. Although, the Napoli star prefers a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid or Barcelona. However, if those moves do not materialize he would be happy to join Arsenal. Ruiz has been instrumental for Napoli and has been linked to various clubs.

ARSENAL HAS COMPETITION FOR RUBEN NEVES

FC Barcelona has reportedly joined the race for Ruben Neves to replace star man Sergio Busquets. They have a good relationship with his agent, Jorge Mendes. He is a close friend of Barca President Joan Laporta. Arsenal has also been linked with him for quite some time. However, if the Catalan club does come calling Neves could be more inclined to join Xavi’s project.
