Arsenal player Magalhaes will like to solidify his standing at the squad

Gabriel Magalhaes expreesses joy to be a part of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s plans. That is after facing challenges at the start of the season. The Brazilian defender joined the Emirates Stadium in 2020 and has largely been a key figure in Arteta’s team.

In August, Gabriel experienced a shift as he found himself on the bench. With Ben White moving to center-back and Thomas Partey taking over at right-back. However, he reclaimed his position in the backline alongside William Saliba and solidified his place in the squad. Gabriel will be making his 150th appearance for Arsenal in Sunday’s pivotal London derby against West Ham.

Gabriel has been playing a significant role in Arsenal having the best duo partnership in the Premier League this season. Meanwhile, he did score an own goal in the 3-1 victory over Liverpool last weekend, which saw the Gunners close the gap to within two points of the top of the table.

Arsenal defender even got nomination for Player of the Month

Gabriel’s impressive form in January, where he not only excelled defensively but also contributed two goals in a pivotal win over Crystal Palace, has earned him a spot on the shortlist for the Premier League Player of the Month award. He is nominated alongside Kevin De Bruyne, Richarlison, Diogo Jota, Conor Bradley, and Elijah Adebayo.

When asked if he feels this nomination finally demonstrates appreciation from those outside of Arsenal, he replied. “I’m very happy to be up for Player of the Month.”

Meanwhile, Arteta mentioned that Gabriel’s responsibilities within his tactical setup have evolved recently, and he believes the player made the correct decision to remain at the club.
