Arsenal linked with a move for Brazilian starlet Savinho

About Football Express UK

Arsenal is reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Atletico Mineiro youngster Savinho as per the report from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano(via Football. London).

The Gunners boss is looking to rebuild the squad with talented youngsters in the squad. They bought young players like Albert Sambi Lokonga, Nuno Tavares, Martin Odegaard, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White who are all under the age of 25. And now they are linked with another young highly talented forward.

According to Romano, Atletico Mineiro forward Savinho is attracting attention from many European clubs and Arsenal are among those clubs who are keeping tabs on the 17-year-old.

The report further claims that the Red Bulls group have proposed to sign the youngster.

Should Arsenal sign Savinho from Atletico Mineiro?

Arsenal has enjoyed success when it comes to buying youngsters from Brazil. As they bought Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano back in 2019 for around £6 million. The youngster is enjoying a productive campaign under Arteta this term, scoring four goals and assisting two times in 14 Premier League appearances.

Meanwhile, the north London club is looking for a long-term successor of out of favour Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. And Savinho could be a very good addition to the Gunners squad. The 17-year-old is a versatile footballer and can play anywhere across the Frontline. So, this could turn out to be a very good deal for Mikel Arteta’s side in future.

However, Arsenal will have to strengthen their attacking department as they are looking quite light in front. Aubameyang has seemingly played his last game for the Emirates club. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are also linked with a move away from the club. As they have only six months remaining on their current contract.

Meanwhile, they are also lacking options in their midfield. And they are keen on signing a new midfielder before the end of this January transfer window. Arthur is mentioned as the potential target but Juventus are reportedly reluctant to let go of their asset.

So, it will be interesting to see how many areas of the pitch they can address before the end of this month. Without proper depth in the squad. They might struggle to keep up with the race to finish in the top four spots which is the main objective in this season for Mikel Arteta’s side.
