Arsenal is ready to accept whatever they get from this midfielder as these Italian giants show interest

Arsenal in no way wants to extend the contract of Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira.

Moreover, Torreira has a year left on his contract and Arsenal wants to cash in whatever they can from this player.

It is clear that Torreira is not in Mikel Arteta’s plans for this summer.

Torreira came to Arsenal back in 2018. He came with a lot of hope to strengthen the team’s midfield.

In the first year, he carried on his Serie A form. However, that form soon fizzled out and he was soon loaned out to Atletico Madrid.

At Madrid, too he could not prosper. Therefore, he was then sent out to Fiorentina, the previous season.

At Fiorentina, he finally got back his footing and was successful through the season.

Recently, he voiced his wish of staying in Fiorentina.

Now, the Evening Standard also reports that the 26-year-old midfielder is most likely to move back to Italy permanently to play in one of the Italian teams.

The report further adds that to the dismay of Torreira, Fiorentina did not agree to pay the negotiated £12.5million fee.

The payment of this fee to Arsenal would have made the loan move of Torreira permanent.

However, it is now known that Juventus and Roma have now shown interest in this player.

Therefore, it is expected that he would soon make a move to either of these teams.

Arsenal is happy to wage whatever they can from the Torreira deal

Interest from Italian clubs like Juventus and Roma could bode well for the Gunners.

The London club could compete with the wage bids of the midfielder. This in a way plays down the question of his salary being cut for the final year of his contract.

Moreover, Arsenal could even raise the transfer fee of Torreira by raising the demand for the player between the two Italian teams.
