Barcelona defender Jules Kounde ticks multiple boxes for Arsenal if he does intend to pursue a transfer this summer. Arsenal need a player who could play centre back as well as right back. He is the best player Arsenal could hope for.
Transfer news regarding Jules Kounde and Arsenal
Reports in Spain suggest Jules Kounde wants to leave Barcelona after just one season in Catalonia. And should that be the case, Arsenal should be among those to register an interest in the France international defender. Kounde has been a mainstay in Xavi’s La Liga title-winning side this season following his £50million transfer from Sevilla in July 2022. Yet Kounde is said to be frustrated with the fact he’s been shoehorned into the team at right-back. That too for large parts of the campaign – even though it’s where he figured for France at the World Cup in Qatar.
There are indications within the Spanish press that Kounde wants to leave Barcelona after just one summer because he has been forced to play out of position. Arsenal could solve that problem for him. That need a back up for Saliba real bad. He could also do the back up role at right back if they need it. That’s because while Kounde may not like playing at right-back. Mikel Arteta is currently after a hybrid defensive signing capable of playing at right centre-back and full-back.
But as somebody who has spent virtually the entirety of his senior career – besides one-and-a-half seasons with Bordeaux – in La Liga. You can also sympathise with Kounde should he wish to pursue a new challenge in another country.
Barcelona are trying to fund a move for Messi. They want Messi back at the Camp Nou. Kounde could be one of the few players that could be sacrificed for his move.
