Arsenal are looking to sign Dominic Calvert Lewin from Everton

About Football Express UK

Arsenal are looking for a potential Lacazette replacement. The Gunners want Odegaard to fill in Lacazzete’s boots but certainly, that is a plan for the future. The board as of now wants to keep things running and are looking to sign Calvert Lewin from Everton.

He was linked with Arsenal for quite a while but the deal is making progress for the first time.

According to the Daily Mail, they will either let go of Lacazette in January or at the end of the season. They will then proceed to sign the 24-year-old from Everton.

However, The Toffees on the other hand are struggling and are likely to not let go of a key player unless Arsenal will pay a big fee. They have raised an asking price of £60 million. Calvert Lewin has a contract with Everton till 2025.

Why are Arsenal feigning sudden interest in players like Calvert Lewin?

The Gunners are a legendary club and they have had legendary players over the years. One exemplary striker among the old Arsenal team was Theirry Henry. Perhaps the best striker in the premier league. Even Dennis Bergkamp and Robin Van Persie are legends of the club.

Over the years they have fallen from glory and their pull power has decreased significantly. The board for the first time in years is leading in the right direction. They have not made any hasty decisions with Arteta and are patient with him which is paying off for the club. The Gunners also have great youth players and youngsters amongst them.

The board’s first priority is to develop the youngsters. They are the future of the club and perhaps if they go in the same direction as they are right now, Arsenal can be a contending team again.

Arsenal’s board are also looking to keep the current team strong. Though Dominic Calvert Lewin is not amongst the likes of Kane, Lewandowski, he is a great player.

Calvert Lewin scored 13 goals two seasons ago and his best season was the 2020/21 season. He scored 17 goals and had 5 assists.(Source: Transfermarkt). Dominic can help the Gunners, perhaps even more than Lacazzete did since he is only 24 years old. If The Gunners sign him then he can become a key part of the club in the present as well as the future.
