Arsenal close in on Manchester City Forward as Tottenham ends interest

Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal are closing in on Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus this summer as rivals Tottenham Hotspur end interest.

Tottenham Hotspur are interested to make a swoop for Richarlison in the transfer window. The interest has paced up in the Everton forward over Gabriel Jesus this summer.

The Gunners are now favorites to sign the player from City to bolster the attacking front. Manager Mikel Arteta has begun ideating plans for the next season and has already made three signings this summer.

After removing the likes of Aubameyang and Lacazette this season, the Gunners are in need of a forward for the next season. Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter to address the deal.

He said-

“Arsenal working on Gabriel Jesus deal.”

A Reunion at Arsenal?

Assuming a transfer is to take place, a potential reunion could be on the cards at the Emirates next season.

Mikel Arteta has known the Man City forward since his days at the Etihad as the assistant manager. Moreover, convincing Jesus to join the Gunners may not be a great deal for the gaffer considering their history together.

Tottenham’s push for Richarlison up front in the attack has handed Arsenal a major advantage to sign Jesus. A move away from the Etihad seems inevitable after the new signings made by Manchester City this summer.

The inclusions of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez mean that Jesus may not be prioritized as a regular next season. Therefore an exit from the club seems to be a wise call for the player.

Despite playing in the Europa League next season, the Gunners gave a glimpse of improvement towards the end of their campaign. The forward could very well be the Gunners’ main man in the forthcoming campaign.

However, the transfer is still yet to go through and Arsenal will hope to add his services next season.
