Arsenal are desperate to secure Martin Zubimendi from Sociedad

Arsenal persists in their pursuit of Martín Zubimendi. That is a year after the Real Sociedad star declines an opportunity to join Gunners. Mundo Deportivo previously said on January 10th that Arsenal could make a move for the midfielder in the transfer window.

Mundo Deportivo’s recent report highlights Arsenal’s interest and Real Sociedad’s plans for the 24-year-old Martín Zubimendi. Both Mikel Arteta’s side and Bayern Munich are the two teams eager to secure the signature of the Spain international midfielder.

Martín Zubimendi’s current contract extends until 2026 and includes a release clause of €60 million. Arsenal and Bayern Munich are both European clubs with significant resources. They have a strong desire for the Real Sociedad midfielder. The report specifies that Arsenal are having a potential interest in securing his services in the current transfer window.

Arsenal to face hurdles in order to secure Zubimendi

Despite Arsenal’s keen interest, the report indicates that Martín Zubimendi expresses a desire to continue with Real Sociedad. The player is reportedly playing through pain and taking risks with his physical condition. Real Sociedad intends to retain him at least until the conclusion of this season.

At present, it is reported that Martín Zubimendi will remain at Real Sociedad, with the situation expected to persist unless there is a serious change of events from Arsenal and Bayern Munich side.

Mundo Deportivo reports state: “Anyone who put their hand in the fire by assuring something that was going to happen in the last few days of the market has systematically been burned.”

Real Sociedad might face challenges in keeping Zubimendi beyond this season. Thus, opening the possibility for both Arsenal and Bayern to compete for his signature in the future.
