Arsenal and More PL Clubs to Raid Juventus

Arthur Melo

Juventus are set to offload a huge list of familiar names, attracting interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and Spurs. The Old Lady are currently going through a phase of transition. New boss, Thiago Motta, is sweeping out eight first-team players in what appears to be a drastic tactical change for the club. They top the list of exits that also involves high-profile players in Federico Chiesa and Wojciech Szczesny – players who have been notable figures for several seasons.

Its been four years since the club won their 9th consecutive Serie A title. They are a shadow of their former selves which led the club to take such harsh decisions. The players being released have had significant roles at Juventus and in their previous clubs. Federico Chiesa, whose name stood out, is on his way as well. Meanwhile, Wojciech Szczesny is ready to bring an end to his reign as Juventus’ main shot-stopper.

Weston McKennie and Arthur Melo have also been asked to look for a new club. This reflects Motta’s clear intention to bring in new talent and strategies to help Juventus reclaim their dominant status in football.

Arsenal Interested in Chiesa

According to reports, Arsenal have made contact with Chiesa’s agent. His availability has also piqued the interest of many other Premier League clubs.

The Italian possesses speed, excellent dribbling ability and clinical finishing which would have made him the perfect signing if not for his injury records. His ability to play in multiple positions can provide Mikel Arteta with more than enough choices.

Chiesa has been wanted in England for a little while, especially after his eye-catching displays during Italy’s Euro 2020 win. But in 2022 a serious ACL injury ruled him out for near seven months, delaying his rise towards becoming one of Europe’s elite forwards.

Despite this setback, Chiesa’s talent and potential remain evident. The former Fiorentina man has entered the final 12 months of his contract. In order to get some value in return, Juventus have reduced their asking price from €25m to €15m.

With Arsenal yet to table a bid to Juventus, many other English and Italian teams are circling the forward for his signature. The Gunners have been in search of a goalscorer for quite some time. It is expected that the attackers would benefit from Chiesa’s direct and creative plays.

However, the North London club has lined up a series of alternatives to the Italian winger. They are monitoring the situations of Victor Osimhen, Victor Gyokeres, and Nico Williams. While they are adept in their own positions, Chiesa would bring versatility and an all-round playing style to the team.

Juventus Rebuilding

The overhaul at Juventus isn’t merely about changing personnel; it’s also a critical move to stabilize the club’s financial health. By offloading high-wage players and potentially selling marketable stars like Federico Chiesa, Juventus aims to reallocate resources more effectively. This strategic shift is essential to provide the flexibility needed to adapt and invest in new talent, shaping the club’s future trajectory.

Thiago Motta’s decisive approach to the squad clear-out reflects his vision for Juventus. He made it clear that players who missed a particular pre-season friendly would not be part of his plans. This bold stance is a refreshing change for a club that has perhaps lingered too long on past glories and now seeks to forge a new path forward.

The sweeping changes are both shocking and necessary. Seeing players like Chiesa, who once lit up the Allianz Stadium, being shown the door may seem cruel. However, the recent seasons have served as a stark reality check for everyone associated with the club. The failure to secure the Serie A title, once almost guaranteed, has been a tough pill to swallow.

While the strategy to rejuvenate the squad by offloading key players might seem harsh, it could be exactly what Juventus needs—a reset to align with the competitive nature of modern football. This summer represents a pivotal moment in the club’s storied history. The decisions made during this transfer window could significantly impact Juventus’ trajectory for years to come.
