Arsenal and Manchester City are interested in signing Denis Zakaria

Arsenal Team

Arsenal and Manchester City have been linked to Denis Zakaria, the Swiss player from Borussia Monchengladbach. This news comes after their sporting director Max Eberl has been quoted in an interview stating that Denis Zakaria wishes to leave the club this season and not renew his contract which shall be ending in the year 2022.

With Denis, we have been trying to extend his contract since October. Denis and his management have told us relatively clear that they favour a transfer this summer if something comes up. Let’s wait and see what happens,” Eberl has told the kicker.

Borussia Monchengladbach signed Denis Zakaria in 2017 from BSC Young Boys for a fee of 10.8 million euros. He is currently valued by Transfermarkt for 27 million euros. Due to having just one year on his contract and the quotes by the sporting director, there is a dip in his market value.

Last season, the Arsenal and Manchester city linked Denis Zakaria played 25 games and started in 15 of them. He registered 1 goal and 1 assist last season.

What Does Zakaria Bring To The Manchester City OR Arsenal Squad?

While for Manchester City, Denis Zakaria plays as either the Central defensive midfielder or as a number 8. Last season Denis secured 1.9 successful tackles per 90 as well as having a passing accuracy of 81%. In addition, this signing would be more sensible as the Swiss international could be the alternative to Fernandinho as the destroyer or the number 6 for the midfield three in their well-structured 4-3-3.

While for Arsenal, the Denis Zakaria transfer will make sense if they wish to add depth into the midfield after the departure of Granit Xhaka from the club this season. Arsenal this transfer market has already signed Sambi Lokonga who plays as a deep playing number 6. With Denis Zakaria, Arsenal could formulate a double pivot with Thomas Partey and himself in Arteta’s preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.
