Arsenal: 11 players rested ahead of Preseason training

Mikel Arteta

Arsenal have started their preseason training for the preseason fixtures that start on July 16. Arsenal have given rest to 11 players before their preseason training.

The Gunners have an unofficial start date on June 27 when they start training for the new season. However, eleven senior players have been playing the UEFA Nations League for their respective international teams. Aaron Ramsdale, Nuno Tavares, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe, Granit Xhaka, Gabriel Martinelli, William Saliba, Lucas Torreira, and Folarin Balogun played for their respective national teams in the Nations League. Moreover, Marquinhos won’t be able to join on June 27 as he is not officially an Arsenal player yet.

Arteta’s view on the concluded season

Mikel Arteta earlier apologized for the team’s poor performance at the last legs of the Premier League.

“I cannot assess the season today, I’m sorry, I’m still in a lot of pain after what happened on Monday. “I cannot give a fair assessment on what we’ve done. What I can guarantee is that we’ve tried to squeeze the lemon as much as we can for every single drop and we reached the point we reached.

I’m very grateful for everybody supporting our club, the way they’re giving us confidence, respect and motivation to drive forward because I think they believe in what we’re doing. But when you have it there – I’m a winner and I hate losing and we lost something we could win. That’s why I’m in pain.”

Arsenal were favorites for the top four as they had a 3-point lead over Tottenham with a game in hand. However, a loss to Tottenham and a string of poor results ensured that Tottenham finish top four. However, Arsenal have the youngest team in the league and have experience in the top flight. They will be hoping for a better finish in the upcoming season.
