Antonio Rudiger wants to stay at Chelsea despite lack of contract talks

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has made it clear to the Blues boss that he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge, in spite of the fact that talks over a new contract are not opened yet.

Rudiger was left out of squad on regular intervals in the initial half of the 2020-21 campaign under the former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard. However, the German defender got a new life under the Blues new boss Thomas Tuchel. While the 28 year old performed brilliantly under the German coach Tuchel and has now become a regular starter for Chelsea.

The Blues will be looking to explore some options in the transfer market this summer. In addition, they will also want to keep the German defender at Stamford Bridge looking at his current form.

Rudiger has 12 months left in his contract with the Blues. He will be looking for an extension as he is committed to the club. Moreover, the reports also claim that clubs in the Premier League and across Europe are keeping a close eye on the possibility of his transfer. Although, the former Roma man will be happy to leave as a free agent next year if a new deal cannot be agreed upon.

Looking at the current scenario it is difficult to say that Chelsea will let the German leave the club. Looking at his current form many teams will want to have such a defender within their teams. Rudiger has also been part of the German team featuring in every minute of their Euro 2020 campaign so far.
