Antonio Rudiger opens up about Chelsea and boss Thomas Tuchel

About Football Express UK

Amidst the transfer speculations, Antonio Rudiger talks about his current manager Thomas Tuchel. The German defender has been one of the mainstays in the Chelsea backline after the arrival of Tuchel and is thankful for the support of Tuchel.

Rudiger, whose contract ends in the summer of 2022 with Chelsea is linked with a move away from the club. His manager Tuchel wants the club to renew the deal, but both parties are yet to reach an agreement.

Clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich are interested in signing Rudiger for free in the summer. They are waiting for any further development. However, Rudiger is currently focused on giving his all to Chelsea and manager Tuchel.

TUCHEL GAVE ME LIFE SAYS RUDIGER

Tuchel gave me new life. You have to be the biggest speaker in the dressing room.’ I’m not like this. I like to show everything on the pitch. He told me what he expects – my natural game: to be aggressive, to be a leader.”- told Rudiger about his manager to the Guardian.

Rudiger made his move to Chelsea from Roma in 2017. However, he was not able to establish himself as the main starter in the team. This changed midway through last season when Thomas Tuchel became the manager of the side.

Tuchel backed Ruydiger and made him their main centre-back. The 28-year-old returned the favour by showing his leadership skills and drive, forming one of the tightest defence in Europe. This continued to the new season when Rudiger has already made 13 starts for Chelsea.

But there is a slight worry when it comes to the contract situation. Though Rudiger said that he is happy and concentrated on his game, the club is worried about the lack of progress. Tuchel wants Chelsea to renew the contract and if the current situation continues, Rudiger can start discussions with other clubs from January.
