According to reports, Tottenham Hotspurs have reignited their interest in Wolves forward Adama Traore as Antonio Conte is keen to land the Spanish forward in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham were keen to sign the forward on loan in the January transfer window. Reports suggest that the North London side offered a life-changing contract offer to the forward. But the winger decides to join his former side Barcelona on loan instead.
Traore enjoyed a very good start to his second homecoming with Barcelona. But his form as well as his game time slowly faded away. Ousmane Dembélé returned from injury and took over on the right wing. Dembele was on top form in the last months of the season. The French forward ended the season as the top assist maker in the La Liga with 13 assists.
Traore made a total of 17 appearances across all competitions this term for Barcelona. In this time he recorded just four assists. (stats via Transfermarkt) Barcelona president Joan Laporta has already confirmed that the club are not looking to activate the clause to make the deal permanent in the summer. But he also suggested that the clubs could make a swap deal with Francisco Trincão, who is on loan with Wolves.
Can Adama Traore make the difference for Antonio Conte and Spurs?
Antonio Conte is on the lookout for a new right-wing-back in the summer transfer window. Emerson Royal has occupied the position for the majority of the season. Despite joining the side just last summer, Antonio Conte is looking to move the Brazilian on. Matt Doherty had a brilliant reintroduction into the first team midway through the season. But the right wing-back picked up an injury that ruled him out for the rest of the season.
Adama Traore has played in the right wing-back previously for Wolves. The Spaniard’s pace and work rate just work in the wing-back slot. The Spanish winger could be the perfect signing for Conte. Spurs are also close to signing Inter Milan star Ivan Perišić on a free transfer. Ivan Perišić has been featured as the left wing-back for Inter this term. If all things go to plan, Conte could have two new wingbacks ahead of the new season.
