AC Milan vs Liverpool: Preview and Predicted Line-up

Fulham

Following a hard-fought victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool will travel to Giuseppe Meazza to encounter AC Milan on Tuesday night in a Champions League encounter.

The Reds have already qualified for the knock-out stage of this competition as the group leader. Therefore, this is not an important game for the Premier League giants. However, the situation is not the same for the Rossoneri, coming into this game.

After failing to win any of their first four games in the Champions League. Stefano Pioli’s side have managed to beat Atletico Madrid in the previous encounter and are back in contention to qualify for the knock-out stage of this competition.

AC Milan vs Liverpool: Preview

Coming into the final round of the group phase, Liverpool are top with 15 points in five games. But, the real battle is going on between the other three teams in this group, FC Porto are sitting second in the group with five points in as many games and the Rossoneri and Atlético Madrid are occupying the final two places with four points.

The Reds are expected to make a few changes for this game as they have nothing to gain from this encounter which might give an opportunity to the host to find a way to find a positive result that might secure a ticket to the knock-out stage. However, if Porto beat Atletico Madrid in the other game then the Portuguese side will qualify without any permutation combination.

Liverpool came away victorious by 3-2 in the reverse fixture between these two sides and Milan will be desperate to take revenge from this encounter.

Meanwhile, previously these two sides met three times in the Champions League and Liverpool won twice including the 2005 Champions League victory in Istanbul and the Rossoneri were victorious only once in the 2007 Champions League final.

Team News:

Milan are currently suffering from an injury crisis as Olivier Giroud, Samu Castillejo, Ante Rebic Pietro Pellegri, Davide Calabria and Simon Kjaer will all remain sidelined for this encounter. So, it will be a big headache for Pioli to line up a squad that will be able to compete against a strong Liverpool team.

On the other hand, Jurgen Klopp is expected to make a few changes and give some youngsters and fringe players a chance to show their worth. But, the Reds will be without Roberto Firmino, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and James Milner.

AC Milan possible starting lineup(4-2-3-1):

Maignan; Kalulu, Tomori, Romagnoli, Hernandez; Kessie, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Ibrahimovic

Liverpool possible starting lineup(4-3-3):
