£21.4m price tag placed on Steven Bergwijn by Spurs

Tottenham Sutton

Tottenham Hotspurs have placed a £21.4m price tag on Dutch winger Steven Bergwijn. Steven Bergwijn is a reported target for Dutch giants Ajax ahead of the summer transfer window.

Steven Bergwijn was signed by then-manager Jose Mourinho. But he has fallen out of favor in the past few seasons and has seen his game time decrease over time. Since the arrival of Antonio Conte at the helm, the Dutch winger has played a bit-part role in the squad.

While he did produce one of the best turn around of the season by scoring a brace last on to grab three points against Leicester City. But he did not have a season to remember particularly. Bergwijn made a total of 32 appearances across all competitions this term. Most of these appearances came off the bench. During this time he recorded four goals and two assists. Reports suggested that Steven Bergwijn was desperate to leave the club in the summer in hope of some better game time. A return to his native county Holland seemed most likely. Dutch giants Ajax have shown the most interest in the Spurs winger. Ajax made two bids for the winger in the January transfer window. But none of the bids exceeded the €20 million mark and were rejected by the club.

Spurs not willing to negotiate the £21.4m price tag placed on Steven Bergwijn?

According to ESPN, Tottenham Hotspurs will decline any bids below their asking price. The club is not willing to negotiate the £21.4 million price tag placed on Steven Bergwijn. The Dutch giants have already lost manager Erik ten Hag to Manchester United. Young star center-half Jurrien Timber may also be on his way to Manchester. While Brazilian star winger Antony may also be leaving the club in the summer transfer window.

Ajax may be forced into the transfer and may have to let their guard down and pay the asking price if they want to land Bergwijn in the summer. Daniel Levy has been very hard to negotiate with in various different previous negotiations. While Bergwijn will be hoping that he can make the Ditch national squad for the World Cup after a handful of game time with Ajax.
